A domain is the portion of a web address or email associated with a particular company. Our domain is "brandnavigator.co.za" all our emails end with "@brandnavigator.co.za ". You could select one ending with".com" or any other considering it is available. If your business is specific to a particular country, we would recommend sticking with one that relates to that country
Choose something easy to say, easy to spell, easy to recall, easy to type and either your business name, or something related to what you do.
You cannot actually "buy" a domain , you can purchase rights for a domain for year at a time.

Elements for setting up an Email account & Website:
Registering a domain will give you ownership of the particular domain for a year. This will need to be renewed every year "Renewal Fee"
These are email addresses you set up for the domain. You need to request the email addresses you would like. We usually recommend small businesses set up specific email addresses for their personal email, a separate one for Invoices/Finance and a third one for sales. There will not be an additional cost if you host your email with us. This will simply allow you to filter email for when you start employing staff with specific roles or if you have a default diary e.g. paying suppliers on a specific day of the week. This way you won't miss any critical emails when processing these tasks. It is easy to set up all your emails to come in to one account in the beginning. It will simply have all your customers and suppliers sending information to the right email address from the start.
NB: In order to set up emails on your domain, you will need to pay a monthly "hosting fee". This is not the same as your internet connection fee.

Regardless if you are a start-up or established business, we recommend that you opt for a CMS website Content Management System). When you receive emails they first go to a server online before they come through to your Computer of Phone. When setting up your email accounts, if you select to keep all your emails on the main server and not only on your device; this will take up space. Hosting packages will have a limit to the amount of space you use online. Visitors to your website will also use up space when browsing your website. These should not cause you to worry, but we are merely educating you on the different facets of setting up your email & website. One way to manage your usage is not avoid sending and receiving tons of sentimental spam type emails and should you wish to show videos host them on YouTube & insert them into the website. This will mean that visitors viewing your video will use YouTube's space.
NB: We suggest that all your sentimental emails are sent to a private email address. If you get in the habit of sending these type of emails or bulk sending information to large groups of email addresses. Your domain will begin to fall into spam folders and this could impact negatively on your business.
Your hosting fee is not the same thing as ADSL or 3G/4G. This is a separate service. There are various options available, capped / uncapped (where there is/isn't a limit to the amount of data used). The other option you can select from is the speed of your connection. In layman's terms the size of the pie sending and receiving data to your ADSL line. This will depend on your budget or type of business.
